Episode 14: Finding the Right Preschool for Your Child with Deborah Stewart

If you haven’t met Deborah Stewart yet, I am SO excited to be the one to introduce her to you!  Deb writes at Teach Preschool, and runs a HUGE, brilliant facebook page by the same name.  But one thing that sets Deb apart from many preschool blogs is that she’s also essentially running her own lab preschool called The Children’s Studio.  This is where she not only teaches, but also observes, documents, and studies early learning as it happens so that she can share those observations and reflections all around the world through her blog.

She’s a master teacher who’s been in the early childhood field for over 30 years, and her passion for play-based, hands-on learning is evident in everything she does.  I have a tremendous amount of respect for Deb and her work and am just so excited to have you hear from her.

In this episode, I asked Deb to join me for a conversation about how to choose the right preschool for your child.  My hope is that what we share will help parents have more clarity and confidence in making this sometimes overwhelming decision, and that it will also help schools to guide parents through that process as well.

What should you look for?  What questions should you ask?  We’ll dive into all of that in this episode!

I’m Amanda Morgan. Here’s what I’m about…

In early education, there is too much distance between what we know and what we do. I bridge the gaps that exist between academia, decision-makers, educators, and parents so that together, we can improve the quality of early education while also respecting and protecting the childhood experience.
