Pumpkin Treats for Fall

September 20, 2012 by notjustcute Filed Under: Celebrate!, Snack Time 4 Comments

I’ve mentioned before, and I’ll mention many times again:  I love fall!  The sight, the sound, the smell, and yes, the taste!

To kick off this season of cinnamon-spice and celebration, I’ve gathered a collection of pumpkin recipes.  Some I’ve tried (and devoured), some are on my fall bucket list.  I thought I’d share with you so you can enjoy them with the children you love and teach!

Can you imagine curling up with a steamy mug of Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate after tromping through the crisp leaves or taking a trip to the pumpkin patch?  Find the recipe at Baking with Blondie.

What’s better than a pumpkin muffin?  A pumpkin muffin with a surprise cream cheese filling!  The kiddos will love the hide and seek feature as they help you make — and eat!– this treat.  The recipe for Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins over at Annie’s Eats.

Baked donuts are a popular trend.  Whether you have donut pans or a dunat maker, try out these Petite Pumpkin Spice Donuts from Blue-Eyed Bakers for a sweet pumpkin treat.

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread is an absolute favorite around here.  I’ve made it over and over with the help of many little hands.  Check out the easy and delicious recipe here. It’s one treat I’ve found few kids will turn down. (For all the times I’ve made it, there’s no picture yet — I’ll have to add one this year. Picture deliciousness. With chocolate chips. Mmmm.)

Last year I made Pumpkin Cheesecake with Pecan-Gingersnap Crust for Thanksgiving and it was heavenly!  It’s more work, but it’s so decadently delicious, you’ll be more than willing to do the work all over again for another!  Find the recipe at Our Best Bites.

If you’re not a fan of pumpkin as an ingredient, check out these Five Fun Ways to Serve Up a Pumpkin as your container!

And it’s Not Just Cute (and delicious!) — Cooking with kids is science, math, and motor skills in action while also building memorable scenes together.  Read more about the benefits of sharing the kitchen with kids!
