I loved this quote from Brené Brown, I found in her latest book,Rising Strong (affiliate link). There are a million amazing take-aways and quotes in this book, but this one struck me as I thought about the importance of that small, safe place for our children as they grow, fall, and rise strong. Check out this great read!

Why Forcing Kids to Do Things ‘Sooner and Faster’ Doesn’t Get Them Further in School {Washington Post}
“What if, like their suburban counterparts, they spent large portions of their day in rigorous, developmentally appropriate activities: learning to make friends, make art, and make believe, exploring and creating their interests and their identities?

A Tale of Two Studies: What We Know About Children and What We Do {NJC}
Research shows us a conflict between what we *know* about children, and what we *do*. “In Dr. Gilliam’s research, he found that preschool programs offering dramatic play every day had an expulsion rate of 9.4%, while programs that reported offering dramatic play “once a month or never” saw a much elevated rate of 25.5%.” But surprisingly, we see the use of dramatic play continue to decrease as reported by early childhood teachers. What other gaps have you seen between what we know about kids, and what we do?
