Back to School Helps for Parents

August 8, 2012 by notjustcute Filed Under: Child Development & DAP Leave a Comment

The first day of school is creeping up on us! I’m not so sure we’re ready around here to tell you the truth.  And yet, I am looking forward to a stronger sense of structure and routine.

On Monday I shared some back to school tips for teachers.  Today, I’m sharing some of my posts geared towards helping parents transition smoothly into a new school year with their little ones.

Change is hard.  You can make it easier with Three Keys to Successful School Transitions, a guest post I wrote for Family Your Way.  You can also check out my podcast on preparing for back to school at the same network, on the Life Your Way Podcast.

Worried about separation anxiety?  (Yours or your child’s?)  I wrote a piece for New Latina that explains a bit about what separation anxiety is and how to cope.  How to ease Your Kids’ Back-to-School Anxiety

Whether you’re prepping for a year at public school, private school, charter, or home, this popular guest post I wrote is a reminder that Homeschooling  is Not Optional.

And last of all, I’m hoping that before we jump back into the school year, we’ve done a good job of creating valuable memories during the summer.  Check out my post on The Power of the Memorable Scene to read more about that.

What’s your top tip for getting your family ready to head back to school?

I’m Amanda Morgan. Here’s what I’m about…

In early education, there is too much distance between what we know and what we do. I bridge the gaps that exist between academia, decision-makers, educators, and parents so that together, we can improve the quality of early education while also respecting and protecting the childhood experience.
