I liked the article about teaching kids to love math. We don’t have a hard time with that around here–me being a computer programmer and my husband being a poker player and former chemistry teacher. We are always calculating the odds of various events happening. Like what were the odds of getting a yellow gumball the last three times we got a gumball? Or today when we were at the track and my 5 yr old ran 3 laps and my 3 year old ran 1/4 of a lap. My 5 year old and I were calculating how much farther she ran than her sister–covering both fractions and multiplication. 🙂

In early education, there is too much distance between what we know and what we do. I bridge the gaps that exist between academia, decision-makers, educators, and parents so that together, we can improve the quality of early education while also respecting and protecting the childhood experience.
