You may have noticed things have gotten a bit quiet around here as the holidays have approached. (I should say they’ve gotten quiet here on the blog — they’re definitely not quiet here in my house! ) I’ve been trying to practice what I preach and slow down a little more, do a little less when I can, and be present with my family.
Things will stay quiet until the seventh of January, when I’ll jump back in for another great year.
I’ve been doing some thinking and planning as the New Year approaches, focusing on resolutions and goals that will guide my focus for 2013. That planning includes my work here at Not Just Cute. I have some exciting plans in mind, but I want to make sure my planning includes you, my wonderful readers. If you have a minute, I’d love to hear what you hope to find here at Not Just Cute in the coming year, or what your favorite finds have been in the past.
Thank you so much for the ways you’ve blessed my life in 2012!
Sending you wishes for the Merriest of Christmases, the Happiest of Hanukkahs, and All the Best in the New Year!

Merry Christmas! I love your blog. If you could write more articles on DAP, positive guidance and social skills?

Merry Christmas, Amanda! I greatly enjoy your blog, especially your weekly round up of interesting articles and activities. I’ve found so many great bloggers through your highlighted links, and I often try the activities you link up, too. Thanks for all your work!

Thankyou Amanda, I appreciate what you do in the midst of your busy family life , and the balance, knowledge and insight you bring to diverse topics. As a teacher and supporter of young families, I especially appreciate the pieces on guidance, creativity and DAP, and the links to others. Have a wonderful festive season and a blessed new year.

Hi Amanda,
I found your site while looking for help on teaching kindness. I am the grandmother of a 3-1/2 year old girl. As of the first of the year, I will be caring for her every Wednesday while her parents work (she attends preschool the rest of the week). After spending time with her today while opening gifts, I realize that she will be a handful and some basic lessons in kindness, giving, and respect will be needed. I realize that Christmas can be overwhelming and young children easily become overwrought. I want to help her learn kindness, generosity, and respect. Any help would be welcomed.

Thank you, Amanda, for your wonderful blog. I really appreciate your research-based approach to parenting (not quite the right way to put it, but hopefully you understand). You have a much deeper background than I do in early childhood development, and I really enjoy it when you bring the insights from your education, past experience as an educator, and the additional reading and research you’ve done into your discussions on parenting. It would be a TREMENDOUS amount of work, but have you ever considered starting an on-line book club where we would read different child development-related books (and maybe some parenting) and discuss them in a chat room type forum? I would love to discuss some of the books I read with you and get your insight, and I have no double you know of so many titles that I’ve never heard of. Anyway, maybe the book club is going a little too far…

Hi Amanda, Thanks for your blog and the time and effort you put into the content and subjects you discuss. I enjoy the full range of subjects your cover but in the last 12 months my mind recalls two particular themes you have covered. Firstly the series on “Mind in the making”, which I initially only read your blogs, and then proceeded to buying the book and revisiting your chapter summaries – thank you! Secondly, I also look forward to your weekly “weekend reads”. Thanks

Hello Amanda,
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas with your family.
Just as the others write, I very much enjoy your thoughts about everything you care about. I very much enjoy your articles about positive guidance because they constantly remind me of working on myself to make life better for my kids and myself.
All the best for the new Year, looking forward to hearing from you again soon!

Please continue the weekend reads. I love them!

Hello Amanda, I echo all of the comments above. You’re blog has been an excellent source of support and inspiration. I was thinking of trying to summarise your ebook into tips we could stick to the fridge as reminders of positive guidance and the style of parenting we strive towards. Maybe this is something that would benefit other parents too.

Merry Christmas! A little late 🙂 Thanks for all of your work here. You are definitely my go to blog on all things preschool and child development.
I LOVE the weekend reads. Particularly the articles. As an emerging preschool teacher I also really appreciate your posts for Thematic Units. I find them practical and helpful.
Have a happy new year!
