Living with the Pain of Loss

Wednesday has become my day for sharing quick thoughts, quotes, or hot topics.  Today, as I thought of a quote that would be appropriate to this solemn date, I immediately thought of these lines from the novel, The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Frye, by Rachel Joyce:

“The only difference is that I am getting used to the pain. It’s like discovering a great hole in the ground. To begin with, you forget it’s there and keep falling in. After a while, it’s still there, but you learn to walk round it.”

However you were affected on this date twelve years ago, that pain remains, though we learn to “walk round it” in our every day.

My thoughts today are with those who walk round a very deep hole.  And my prayers continue for you, for this nation, and for the brotherhood of man.

I’m Amanda Morgan. Here’s what I’m about…

In early education, there is too much distance between what we know and what we do. I bridge the gaps that exist between academia, decision-makers, educators, and parents so that together, we can improve the quality of early education while also respecting and protecting the childhood experience.
