Episode 24: Cribsheet with Emily Oster – Making Decisions as a Parent

There are many decisions to make as a parent.

Breastfeed or bottle?  Cosleep or no?  Where to find quality care?

And when you reach out for more information while making these decisions, the waters sometimes seem to only get more cloudy.

Emily Oster’s new book, Cribsheet, tackles many common decisions parents make in the early years.  But she’s not here to tell you what to do.  She’s taking a different approach.  Applying her experience as an economist (which, I’ve learned, is really the science of informed decision-making) to her role as a parent, she’s sharing an approach that is equal parts, rigorous data and honest wholistic consideration.

I’m Amanda Morgan. Here’s what I’m about…

In early education, there is too much distance between what we know and what we do. I bridge the gaps that exist between academia, decision-makers, educators, and parents so that together, we can improve the quality of early education while also respecting and protecting the childhood experience.
