Weekend Reads 3.26.11

March 26, 2011 by notjustcute Filed Under: Child Development & DAP, Create, Get Outside, Learning through Play and Experience, Snack Time, Weekend Reads 10 Comments

OK, looks like the switch has been thrown and we’re up and running with the new design, thanks to the amazing work of Brandon at Sunday Ventures!  There may be a few kinks to work out on this first run, your patience is appreciated.  In the meantime, enjoy these gems from around the blogosphere:

Why Preschool Shouldn’t Be Like School {Slate} and an interesting response, A False Debate About Preschool (and K12) Learning {Early Ed Watch}

Q&A with Judith Schikendanz (Great insights on integration) {NAEYC}

Making Time for a Green Hour {Go Explore Nature}

Activity Course with Balloons {Hands On as We Grow}

Felt Crowns: To Buy or Make?? {Modern Parents, Messy Kids}

And this Scary Spaghetti from Tinker Lab was just the thing to make with six under seven at our cousin sleep-over last night!  We used sausage and marinara sauce and it was a hit all around!

Enjoy your weekend!

      Thanks for the tip, Nina. I’ll look into that. We have a tweaking session planned for today, so that suggestion is just in time!

    Yay! I love the new look, but I wish I could still read the entire post on my feed. Or at least multiple posts on the site without having to click each individual post to read more.

    I’ll echo the previous comment. Nice new look! However, I too wish I could read the entire post in the feed or multiple posts on the site without having to click through to each one. Good luck on the technical challenges…hope they work out ok! Thanks again for the great blog!

      Hopefully all feeds are coming through in full text now. (Those on the actual site are abbreviated on the main page.) Please let me know if you’re still getting only partial feeds.

In early education, there is too much distance between what we know and what we do. I bridge the gaps that exist between academia, decision-makers, educators, and parents so that together, we can improve the quality of early education while also respecting and protecting the childhood experience.
