Spider Cookies To Tickle Your Child's Tastebuds!
“There was an old lady who swallowed a spider, that wriggled and jiggled and tickled inside her…”
Butterfly Noodles
Isn’t it funny how children are much more interested in eating something when it’s has a fun name? I have a hard time getting my children to eat Farfalle Alle Erbe Panna Rosa (a tasty little recipe from my sister-in-law you can find here), but if I call it “Butterfly Noodles”, they’re all over it!
Cake Mix Cookies. Better Than the Easy Bake Oven
Do you remember the Easy Bake Oven? You may even have an Easy Bake now, as they’ve been revived. One of the clinchers for the Easy Bake is the simple mix that allows a child to pour, stir, and create all on her own, and bake…well…less than savory delicacies. (Another downer, in addition to the finished product, is the fact that these refill mixes don’t come cheap.) Well, here’s a baking experience that’s just as easy, but a bit more authentic, and whole lot more palatable.
Five Favorites….To Start
OK, for those of you looking for more Dr. Seuss activities, here are five favorites to start off with! More to come!
(Does anyone else ever feel like they’re juggling this many things?)
The Perfect Pretzel Recipe…..Really.
I have never found a recipe for big soft pretzels that I really loved. They were too complicated to make with kids, or didn’t taste very good, or had the wrong texture. Well, that all changed this last Christmas when my sister-in-law, gave me this little gem as part of a collection of recipes. (I love getting good recipes for Christmas!) I tried it out, and it couldn’t be easier! The kiddos can help from start to finish. Just mix your ingredients, shape your dough (letters, hearts, geo shapes, or the traditional pretzel knot), brush, sprinkle, and bake. They’re so fast, but so good! Here’s the recipe so you can find out for yourself!

Heart Biscuits
A Colorful Snack
I hope that whoever said children shouldn’t play with their food, is OK with children experimenting with their food. Many people would agree that food can be an art form. This snack makes that statement quite literal.
Snacks to Warm You!
There are certain winter days when you absolutely have to be warmed up from the inside out. Warm snacks are perfect for an afternoon after sledding or as a part of a preschool winter theme. Children learn that just as clothes keep us warm in winter, warm foods help us out this time of year as well. Plus, sharing warm food you’ve prepared together provides many of the developmental gains mentioned in this post. Here are a few fun snacks to warm you through during a cold winter theme!
Amber’s Fresh Snow Ice Cream
On my first giveaway post, I asked readers to comment with their favorite snowy day activities. Amber posted these instructions for Snow Ice Cream:
