Care

When children present us with their most challenging behaviors, it’s easy to fixate on what they’re doing that gets under our skin.  We claim the behavior as the source of our frustration: he throws tantrums / she won’t listen / they constantly argue.  But change rarely comes by focusing only on the symptoms.  We have to care enough to get to the real source of the behavior.

Wild and exciting times around here as we work on all the plans necessary to get our family moved almost 1,000 miles away this summer.  Daunting and exciting, but also, busy and distracting!  So posts have been a bit sparse as we’ve traveled up and back several times, trying to find that one piece of dirt we’ll settle down on.  But while I’ve been away, there have been some fascinating things coming across my screen that I’d love to share with you!  (And if you feel like trading, I’ll be happy to take any tips or links for making a big move with your family or for living in the Pacific Northwest in exchange!) I’m Amanda Morgan. Here’s what I’m about…

In early education, there is too much distance between what we know and what we do. I bridge the gaps that exist between academia, decision-makers, educators, and parents so that together, we can improve the quality of early education while also respecting and protecting the childhood experience.
